Apria Healthcare

Stock transaction valued at more than $1.1 billion

Apria Healthcare was formed by the merger of two of the USA’s largest home health businesses, Homedco Group and Abbey Healthcare Services. Apria was part of the managed-care revolution offering cost-conscious health-maintenance to organizations. They offered a bundle of services, centered around home infusion, respiratory therapy, home medical equipment, women’s health care, nursing services and coordinated care through 350 branches in 48 states.

Integration

The integration was divided into a collection of regions that would handle the detailed integration of branch offices within that region. Our team member was assigned to the North West region of the USA.

Each region was responsible for merging the business operations such as HR, healthcare IT, and the clinical management, and supplier contracts. Some areas of the integration were centralized nationwide, such as billing.

After the integration was completed and the business had been grown, the infusion services were spun off as Coram Infusion Services and sold to CVS Carelink.
